Forest School

Hello we are the Forest School Team.

My name is Mrs Main and I have completed my Level 3 Forest School course. I currently also teach in Year 3 and now have the exciting project of running Forest School here at St Botolph's for its second full year.

My name is Mrs Hallam and I am  a qualified Level 3 Forest School practitioner. When I am not at Forest School I work as the Pastoral, Wellbeing Mentor and Mental Health Lead. I am very excited to be a part of the Forest School journey at St Botolph's.

My name is Miss Duncan and I have completed Level 2 Forest School course. I currently am working in Year 3 and am pleased to be a part of the Forest School Team.

What does Forest School look like at St Botolph's?

We provide a learning approach that offers children regular learner-led exploration and discovery, nurturing meaningful experiences through hands-on learning in a natural environment with trees. We aim to promote the holistic development of all involved. We will give children the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves while providing opportunities to:

  • Build self- confidence and independence.
  • Foster healthy mental wellbeing
  • Be exposed to manageable risk.
  • Develop communication skills and self-esteem.
  • Learn how to care for others and the environment.

Where and when will it take place?

Our sessions will mainly take place in our school garden that we have continue to develop following its renovation. Please see the journey of our garden below. We may also use the outdoor classroom and school field from time to time. The sessions are 2 hours and are currently running for all the children in Foundation on a rota basis.
