Working at home has been so much fun,
Making, baking and gardening in the sun.
Nice long works and painting rocks,
Wearing sandals and not school shoes and socks.
It’s been so different from coming to school,
But please know that we are missing you all! ❤️

Hello!
This week, we are continuing with our 'Gruffalo' learning. Mrs Eames and I have loved seeing all of the 'Gruffalo' inspired learning on tapestry. Thank you so much for keeping us up to date with all of your wonderful pictures!
'Number of the day' sessions will continue and will be uploaded daily at 9am. This week, we are focusing on addition.
Don't forget to vote for the story that you want to hear during 'Story Time'. Remember, National Oak Academy are offering daily, online lessons for EYFS.
However, please can we reiterate that these activities are just suggestions for your child to pick and choose from. There is no expectation on how much home learning should be done. The main thing is that you and your child are happy, safe and healthy.

We have updated the home learning grid for this week. The home learning for this week is based around VE day, with suggestions of what to do each day, ending with a VE day celebration at home.
The next home learning grid is based on 'The Gruffalo'. This grid should last two weeks and be used in the weeks beginning 11th May and 18th May.

Hello everyone.
We hope that you have had a lovely Easter with your family. It was lovely to see some of the activities that you were doing. As expected, the school will remain closed on Monday, to the majority of pupils.
Miss Stewart and myself will therefore continue the daily stories, that we upload onto Tapestry. We will choose a story for Monday and then voting for your favourite stories, will commence again from Tuesday onwards.
We have updated the Home Learning Grid and added some new activities that you can do with your child over the next few weeks. These activities are focused around the expectations of the Early Learning Goals, which can be found at the bottom of the web page. Again, there is no pressure to carry out these activities, but it does help to have a structured routine, with your child. Most importantly, stay safe and happy.
We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Hi everyone,
Hope that you're all keeping safe and well. We are really enjoying seeing pictures of the children's home learning, so thank you.
Just a reminder about teaching phonics. As mentioned before, there are the Ruth Miskin videos to watch, when following the Read, Write Inc scheme, but I've attached a chart in the Reading section, at the bottom of the page. This shows a clear progression through Sets 1, 2 and 3, of the order that the sounds should be taught. It also includes the rhymes for each sound. In Foundation, the expectation is that we follow Sets 1 and 2.

Good afternoon all,
We are getting lots of questions about letter formation so I am hoping the following information helps.
As you are already aware, we are following a scheme called '‘Hemispheres Think Write’. The Think Write programme helps children learn accurate letter formation before transitioning into fully joining, by the end of Year 2. The ‘Think Write’ programme teaches children to form the letters by linking them to animals. The Think Write characters help children decode the pre-cursive script for height, size, spatial placement and formation.
During handwriting sessions at school, we use sheets of paper with the 'Think Write' guides on which helps the children to think carefully about the size of their letters. However, this is really difficult to do on plain paper. Therefore, if you would like to practice any letter formation, I have attached a blank line guide to help.
To support letter sizing, remind the children that;
-All of the animals start on the grass.
-Harriet letters are tall so they reach the clouds.
-Georgia (except 'd' which is a Georgia letter but does go above the helicopter line as it is an ascender), Rupert and Zack letters are shorter than Harriet letters, so they only reach the helicopter lines.
-Pippa letters sit below the line so they dig for worms before coming back up to the grass line.
We have learnt how to form all of the 'Harriet' and 'Georgia' letters and some of the 'Rupert' letters, so please practice these. If you want to look at how we form any other letters, our handwriting guide and letter formation rhymes will help with that.

Here are some fantastic, FREE online resources to use whilst we are learning at home.
Noah and I are loving PE with Joe Wicks. We have been doing it everyday and it has really helped us to get into a 'home learning routine'.
Next week, I think we will have a little look at the science and wildlife activities.

I have found a way that we can keep in contact, via tapestry, that won't add unnecessary information to your children's learning journeys. It is called 'memos'.
Mrs Eames and I will be using 'memos' to keep you updated on things such as, the progress of the caterpillars, any additional home learning challenges we think you would enjoy and to say hello to you all.

Dear all,
As promised, we have attached some work for you to do whilst our school is closed. If you do complete any of the home learning tasks, we would love to see them on tapestry! We have provided you with a timetable, similar to the one we follow at school. Please use it as a guide as to how you could structure your day, if you feel this would be useful.
We will update the website on a Friday and put some more home challenges on as and when is necessary.
