Useful Information

Homework

Every term we will send out a letter detailing the whole term's homework. Homework will consist of maths and English tasks relating to learning in class and the year 6 objectives. Homework will go out every Friday and should be returned back the following Thursday.  We ask that you support your child to return homework by the due dates specified in the letter. If children are struggling to complete tasks, we are more than happy to help them.

You can find a copy of the homework letter in the 'Documents' section below.

In addition to formal homework, we ask that you continue to listen to your child read on a regular basis and that you discuss what they have read with them. This will help enormously when they come to quizzing at school. We would also like your child to continue learning their times tables - Times Tables Rockstars will be a valuable tool for this!

PE

This term both classes will participate in one out door and one indoor PE session.

Please could you ensure that your child has the correct kit at school on these days. It is also important to have a pair of shoes for both indoor and outdoor PE.  Trainers rather than plimsolls are advisable for outdoor PE as we will be on the school courts and maybe field.

It may be worthwhile leaving the kit at school at all times. We will make sure that it comes home at the end of term for washing or sooner if it gets particularly muddy!

Term One - Route 66

We are very excited to be teaching this topic this during the first term in year six! We can’t wait to read ‘There’s a boy in the girl’s bathroom’ during our English lessons and use this to inspire our writing.  During this incredible topic, children will be using their geography skills, using atlases to location specific locations and learning all about the human and physical features of America. We will also learn about specific locations along Route 66 and why people take this special journey! Our focus will then move to earthquakes and children will learn all about the causes and consequences of them.

Look out for pictures on the website updating you of our learning in lots of our subjects.
