Transition Work

We have put together a learning pack to support our Year 6 children with their transition into Year 7. We know this time is a significant event in the children’s lives and we want to make transition as smooth as possible. Given the exceptional circumstances that we have found ourselves in this year we want to make this pack accessible to all of the children, whether they are learning in school or at home.

The pack is designed to be motivational, helpful and reassuring and to help young people feel valued, loved, encouraged and equipped for the journey ahead. The learning in the booklets is supported by the books  ‘You Are Awesome ‘ by Matthew Syed and ‘Go Big: The secondary school survival guide ‘ by Matthew Burton. Both of these books are available on Amazon, should you wish to purchase them (for children who will not be in school).  However, they are not essential and all of the work can be done without them.

The transition booklets will be completed in school by all pupils who will attending a Year Six Bubble. This is so that we, as class teachers can guide the children through the transition process and support them with any questions they may have. Once they have completed the booklet in school, we will send it home with them as they might want to refer to it over the summer break.  If your child will not be attending school over the next four weeks, please do not worry, as you can download the booklet or alternatively there is a paper copy ready to collect from the office if you are unable to print at home.

We are here to support all of our Year Six’s during this important change in their lives, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any more information or if you have any concerns regarding transition.
