Useful Information for parents

Homework

This term, we will send out a letter detailing the whole term's homework. We ask that you support your child to return homework by the due dates specified in the letter.

Homework will consist of Maths and English tasks relating to learning in class or revision of previous learning.

Every other week, we will set Times Tables Rockstars tasks. Don't worry if you don't have access to this at home because there will be opportunity for your child to complete this at school if necessary.

You can find a copy of the homework letter in the 'Documents' section below.

In addition to formal homework, we ask that you continue to listen to your child read on a regular basis and that you discuss what they have read with them. This will help enormously with the development of their reading and comprehension skills.

Spellings in the form of ‘Fridge Words’ will also be sent home and your child is encouraged to learn these over the week. These spellings are taken from the Year 5-6 word lists which are relevant to the focus of lessons that week.

We would also like your child to continue learning their times tables. A letter will be sent home explaining the process and can be found below for your reference.

PE

This term, both classes will participate in two outdoor PE sessions. Please could you ensure that your child has the correct kit for this. Currently, children will need to attend school in their PE kits on the days they have PE.  This will be on a Monday and a Tuesday this term.

Trainers rather than plimsoles must now be worn for safety and practicality. We will be using the playing field whenever possible and this can get muddy. Spare socks and a change of shoes is advisable to wear for the rest of the day. We would appreciate it if you could provide a bag for your child to transport home muddy trainers.

Warm tracksuits or similar must be worn over shorts and T shirt to keep the pupils warm during the day as well as during the PE session.
